What you’ll practice
Use length × width × height and state cubic units.
Imagine filling the prism with unit cubes. Length times width counts one layer; multiplying by the height counts all the layers.
How this skill works
The base area is length × width.
Multiply that base area by the height to include every layer. A product of three length measurements has cubic units.
Worked example
- Base area = 8 × 3 = 24 cm².
- Volume = 24 × 5 = 120 cm³.
Answer: 120 cm³
Teaching notes
- Use all three dimensions once.
