Geometry

What you’ll practice

Assign an angle type from its degree measure.

Use the given degree measure to name each angle. The marked arc shows the turn you need to classify, which matters when an angle is greater than 180°.

How this skill works

Acute angles are between 0° and 90°; a right angle is 90°. Obtuse angles are between 90° and 180°.

A straight angle is 180°. A reflex angle is greater than 180° and less than 360°.

Worked example

Classify an angle of 125°.
  1. 125° is greater than 90° and less than 180°.
  2. It is an obtuse angle.

Answer: Obtuse

Teaching notes

  • Use the marked arc, not the smaller gap between two rays, for a reflex angle.
